Easy Wedding Card Using Silhouette Cameo

Friday, June 13th, 2014

silhouteet 6-3

Wedding season is here and what a better way to use our Silhouette Cameo than for all those wedding cards. Today I am dusting off the cameo and getting to work using a card that can be bought directly from the Silhouette Studio. Combining this cutting file with a beautiful and easy water color background, the effect gives this card an elegant feel.

The color was inspired by the bride’s color scheme of teal and pink. This card can also be easily given for a bridal shower too!

Let’s get started.

1. Purchase & download”Wedding Dress Card” by Angela Angelova from the Silhouette Studio.

2.  Place card stock on cutting mat and press “start”

8×11 sheet of card stock

3. After the machine is done cutting remove card from mat and remove all extra trimmings.

Ready to be trimmed.

4. Trim water color paper to fit the back of the card. In this case my card was 5 in. X 5 in.

5. Water color card using 2-3 colors and let dry (Or dry with heat embosser)

6. Glue water colored paper behind the card using foam adhesives.

7. Place Want 2 Scrap bling on flowers.

8. Place American Crafts ribbon and tie a bow on the top of the card.

Beautiful and classy! This is one of my favorite cards so far, and cannot wait to give this to the bride.

Heartfelt Creation Gift Bag

Sunday, February 2nd, 2014

Heartfelt Creations has a new collection Majestic Morning Collection, and with Valentines right around the corner I wanted to make something for my daughter’s teacher. I did not want her to be “my valentine” but simply an appreciation for all her hard work. This collection is simply stunning and the versatility in the paper pack allowed me to make a gift bag with my Silhouette Cameo.

I began by selecting a 12×12 sheet from the Majestic Morning Paper Collection and placing that in my Silhouette Cameo. The box is from Lori Whitlock 3D Treat Bag. Let me make a note that this paper did super well in the cameo, the cuts were crisp and clean. silhoutte

This is what I ended up with:

Next I proceeded to fold the bag and place adhesive on one side. Next I cut a carnation using Spellbinders Carnation Creations via Cuttlebug.

Here is the end result:

Gorgeous, right?! Next assemble your flower using a brad and set aside.

Now to work on our tag. The Majestic Morning paper pack has several tags to choose from. Just select one and cut it out.

Along to coordinate with the paper pack, Heartfelt Creations has 6 sets of pre-cut stamps. For this piece I am using one of the Majestic Morning Bouquet. I stamped it with StazOn and colored it in with watercolor markers. As a finishing touch I placed that gorgeous carnation on the tag, tided the ribbon on the baggie and ready to go!

I will be filling this treat bag with an assortment of chocolates, and giving this to my favorite 1st grade teacher. I cannot wait to make other gifts and coordinating cards with this collection.  For a step-by-step video please see below.

Early Christmas Card

Monday, November 4th, 2013

What celebrates the beginning of the holiday season like an early Christmas card? You don’t even have to be holiday crazy like I am (yes, I already have my tree up)! I made this for my wonderful parents who just bought their Christmas plane tickets and we could hardly contain our excitement, so we sent them a little holiday cheer.

First off, the thing that makes this card is the Decorated Reindeer Stamp from Deep Red Stamps. I bought it because it was adorable, but let me tell you, it is far more adorable when you use it. I think I told my mother 5 times how cute it was in one conversation. I used a brown paper for the main part of it’s body to already be colored brown and I used my Chromatix Markers to color the rest. I wanted this card to shine, so I used some liquid glue and my silhouette glitter to make the lights sparkle.

She couldn’t be more excited to send this to grandma and grandpa, right? :)

Add your favorite saying, some cute Christmas trees and embellish your heart away with the new wreath (and trees) Die D-Lites.

Sleep Tight Page Layout

Friday, October 18th, 2013

Night night, Sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite–Heather and I have been wanting to use these sleeping photos for a long time because they are so cute and Heather found the perfect page layout for them. Isn’t it funny how no matter how naughty your kids are through out the day when you look at them sleeping at the end of the day they can just melt your heart away again. We have to laugh at this one of Trista who fell asleep on the bathroom sink, now that is called TIRED!

This layout all started with Graphic 45 cling stamp set Mother Goose and Heather wanting to play around with American Crafts Marker set. After we put the pictures on, it was clear that we needed something else so Heather got out the rounded squares from Spellbinders and cut out a few to arrange on the page. A few finishing touches and here it is.

Candy Roll Gift Idea

Monday, October 14th, 2013

My daughter had a double birthday party last weekend and we needed a gift idea for two four year olds, so I came up with this fun Candy Roll Gift idea. What four year old doesn’t like candy??? I know none. Therefore, I let Claire choose some candy and we made it into a candy roll. It’s funny how I felt like I didn’t have a lot of time to shop for a present, but I sure had the time to make these…and it probably took a little longer. It was fun! I got my feet wet with some of the new spellbinders and I’m loving them. I’m a little convinced that girly scrapbook items are kind of like baby clothes….they’re more fun to get when they’re girly. I guess I’m biased, being female and all. :)

I took the candy and put it in a plastic gift baggy. I tied one end and cut off the other, then tied that side as well. I wrapped my main paper around the roll and placed the decor on top. I didn’t fully adhere it to the bag until I was done just in case I needed to adjust, which was helpful! One shout out that I MUST do is for the Spellbinders Medallion Nine. This little Die D-lite is so much fun, beautiful, and cute all at the same time. I posted a bigger picture so you could see a little more detail.

Also, the Spellbinders Blooms One turned out to be far more adorable than I was expecting. These are the little daisies shown below. I love that you can flare out the pedals to give it the 3D effect! So cute!

On our boy present we used more of a birthday theme with the QuicKutz Party. However, I must tell you that the Penny Black Edge to Edge stamps are what really got me excited for these! Ah! They have the cutest sayings that I would actually put on any card or gift.

Have so much fun! These are so fun to make and they are awesome presents!

Halloween scrapbook Page

Friday, September 13th, 2013

Its getting close to that time of the year again when it starts to cool off and there is a smell of fall in the air so why not do a Halloween scrapbook page. Heather has been in Halloween mode the last few days, I don’t know if it is because we got this fantastic Halloween paper from Bo Bunny or because she is just seeing Halloween stuff already in the stores, but we are in full Halloween mode in our house already.

Like I have already said, this page starts off with great paper but Heather bought these doilies a little while ago to use for something after being inspired by Stacy using them in a few of her blogs. When she saw them she thought that they would make fun spider webs. You wouldn’t normally associate the Just Swingin’ tree from Spellbinders  as a Halloween spooky die cut, but it is amazing when you use the right colors and have a spider hanging from it how it really fits the layout.

It is really fun looking back on the past years pictures while doing these layouts and it has gotten us excited to see all those kids in their costumes at the doorstep saying “Trick-or-Treat”!
