Baby Headbands: Cutting felt with Sizzix Big Shot

Monday, June 23rd, 2014

Did you know you can cut felt with your Sizzix Big Shot using Spellbinders Nestabilities die set?! You can! I am making a ton of newborn headbands for gifts using these two items and beautiful flowers I have been hoarding in my craft room. Baby gifts have never been easier!

Let’s get started.

1. Using your Sizzix Big Shot ( or other manual Die Cutting Machine), cut 2 circles of felt using Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circles.

2.  Cut your elastic to newborn head circumference, about 35cm-36cm (average newborn).

3. Glue both ends of elastic onto felt, place second circle over glue area.

4. Proceed to place your ribbon, feather, or boa. Start outside and work the  material in a circle towards the middle.

5. Place decorative flower.

6.  Top it off with gem or button.

You can use anything to decorate these headband, all of my supplies were in my craft room.  Here is a short, step-by-step video of how I made the purple headband in the picture above.

Easy Wedding Card Using Silhouette Cameo

Friday, June 13th, 2014

silhouteet 6-3

Wedding season is here and what a better way to use our Silhouette Cameo than for all those wedding cards. Today I am dusting off the cameo and getting to work using a card that can be bought directly from the Silhouette Studio. Combining this cutting file with a beautiful and easy water color background, the effect gives this card an elegant feel.

The color was inspired by the bride’s color scheme of teal and pink. This card can also be easily given for a bridal shower too!

Let’s get started.

1. Purchase & download”Wedding Dress Card” by Angela Angelova from the Silhouette Studio.

2.  Place card stock on cutting mat and press “start”

8×11 sheet of card stock

3. After the machine is done cutting remove card from mat and remove all extra trimmings.

Ready to be trimmed.

4. Trim water color paper to fit the back of the card. In this case my card was 5 in. X 5 in.

5. Water color card using 2-3 colors and let dry (Or dry with heat embosser)

6. Glue water colored paper behind the card using foam adhesives.

7. Place Want 2 Scrap bling on flowers.

8. Place American Crafts ribbon and tie a bow on the top of the card.

Beautiful and classy! This is one of my favorite cards so far, and cannot wait to give this to the bride.

Delicate Doilies-Bright and Beautiful

Friday, February 7th, 2014

Nothing says beautiful like a Delicate Doilies from Spellbinders. This die-cut set has been begging to be used and this week I am giving them the main focus. The following project had me using my Cuttlebug more than I have in the last couple weeks.

Here is the large doilie I used on the cuttlebug. My selection of paper is from Heartfelt Creations :Majestic Morning. I chose this paper pack because it has bright colors already color coordinated and with one 12×12 sheet I got 4 colors to use on this lovely project.

Once my doilies were cut, I used Marianne Designs: Collectables die-cut banner  and stamp set to cut my perfect banner. Then I stamped the “Bright and Beautiful” in Memento Cottage Ivy.

Now its time to assemble everything. Place your background sheet on your card, next layer your doilies on the card. Third place your stamped banner with 3D foam adhesives. Place your Want 2 Scrap pearls and tie a ribbon. Tada!  For a step-by-step please check out my video.

Dandelion Wishes Multi-purpose Layered Card

Friday, January 17th, 2014

Howdy and welcome! Today we are featuring My Favorite Things “Dandelion Wishes”stamp set shown in my Dandelion Wishes multi-purpose layered card below. This set is absolutely gorgeous and very versatile! I could not pick a project to start with because of all the possibilities. One of my favorite things about My Favorite Things is the selection of stamps with a distinctive air.  With this in mind I decided to go back to the basics; stamping and layering.

My Favorite Things Card

To begin this card was paper selection. Cut@home has a great selection of paper, and since I am a bit colored blind I played it safe and used DCWV  Blossom Song stack. This stack comes with 45 12″x 12″ sheets with a variety of glitter and solid card stock.  I love the ability to pick 3 sheets and know that the color combo is done for me.  I trimmed two pieces 2″ x 5.5″ and the green piece .5″x 4.5″.  On the green piece I made a little ribbon by simply cutting a “triangle” on the end.  Next I used Spellbinders Nestabilities Standard Circle on a light blue piece of card stock from my DCWV Blossom song stack.

Next I stamped 2 flower images on white card stock with pigment ink and cut them out. Once that is done I made this gorgeous banner with JustRite Stampers “Bunting and Buttons”.  These are some awesome dies that make the perfect banner every time. Again I use some glittered card stock from my DCWV Blossom Song stack. Once everything was cut, I simply put it together as follows: On the white card, glue a piece of your 2in strips. Second, glue your other piece of 2in strip slightly over that one. Next use foam adhesive on your circle and place that on top of the two pieces of patterned card stock. Once that is set, place your thin piece of patterned paper on top of the circle. Remember those cute flowers we stamped and cut? Well it is time for those babies to go on. I decided to use foam adhesive on one and regular glue dots on the other flower and stem. Now time for the perfect banner up at the corner.

Want2Scrap Bling

Last but not least I added some pearls from Want2Scrap Beautiful Bling Strips in Pink. Ta da! How easy was that?! You can use a sentiment from the My Favorite Things Dandelion Wishes, however I decided to leave my blank. For step by step instructions, you are welcome to watch my video tutorial!

Heartfelt Creations Burnish Key Stamp and die

Sunday, January 12th, 2014

Hi everyone, here is a card that I created using the Heartfelt Creations Burnish Key stamp and die and a resist embossing technique. I love the versatility of this stamp and die, the card that I created can be used for many different events, a birthday, wedding, congratulations, even Valentine’s day!

Here is a list of the products that I used that can be found at CutatHome:

HCD 741 – Heartfelt Creations Burnished Key Die

HCPC 3569 – Heartfelt Creations Floral Doorway & Latch Pre-cut rubber stamp set

TIM21407 – Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad, Aged Mahogany

TIM21407 – Tim Holtz Distress Ink Pad, Walnut Stain

I also used Want2Scrap pearls, Bo-Bunny card stock, cream colored card stock, ribbon, pop dots, embossing powder – clear, embossing gun, adhesive and metal key embellishments.

I started by creating a base for my card, I cut a 10 x 7 sheet of card stock and scored it to make a 5 x 7 card base. I selected another color of card stock to match the Aged Mahogany ink, I cut that piece to 4 3/4 x 6 3/4. I took my cream colored card stock and did a resist embossing technique which is demonstrated in the video below.

Once I created the base for the card I stamped the “I wish for you” sentiment in walnut stain and embossed it with clear embossing powder, I inked the background with the aged mahogany, I used the Heartfelt Creations Die to cut and emboss it, I used walnut stain to ink the outer part of the die cut.

I placed the die cut “I wish for you” over the resist embossed “I wish for you”. I used pop dots to give it additional dimension, I added a double pop dot to the center to raise it a little higher than the frame. I then added Want2Scrap pearls to embellish the frame. Finally I adhered the ribbon and keys.

Here is the finished product, I hope you like how it turned out!

I will probably use this for a Birthday card, but it can work for many different occasions. Thanks for looking, I hope you enjoyed my post, until next time Thanks and Happy Scrapping!

A “Beary” Big Thank you!

Monday, December 30th, 2013

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and I know just how to give a Beary Big Thank You to all of your loved ones. Last year my husband and I wrote thank you notes for all the gifts we received from Christmas and it was incredibly fun. It gave us more gratitude for our friends and family and helped us bask in the generosity of others. So, if you’re looking for a way to carry on the Christmas feeling a little longer, then this is for you!

For my card, I centered it around the ADORABLE Bear Hug stamp by Deep Red Stamps (gosh, they are all so cute!!). I wasn’t completely sure that I wanted to use Christmas paper, but I’m really glad I did. I think this Bear Hug stamp fits perfectly for any thank you, Christmas, or even Valentine’s Day card, so you can definitely use it for an every-occasion stamp so long as you match the paper to your theme. The Gingerbread Paper by Kaisercraft was wonderful to use because I could use the border stickers to give it a finished look without having to search for matching ribbon or paper. Lastly, stamp on your message and add a little Want2Scrap bling to give it that finished look! You’ll make someone’s day brighter by sharing your thoughts in such an adorable way.

Last, but not least, I want to give a “Beary” big thank you to everyone who has read and followed my Monday blog for the past couple of years. I will be having a new addition to our family in March…little baby girl Hailey, and this will be my last blog. I have thoroughly enjoyed every single comment I’ve received and the experience I’ve had. Thank you and keep on having fun being super crafty!
